Setup Ableton Live on Mac OS X
First of all, download and install Osculator for Mac OS X. Once installed, we need to configure your system:
First of all, open Ableton Live, click on ‘File’ in the menu bar, then click ‘Preferences’ near the top of the list:
In the window that pops up, click on ‘MIDI Sync’ in the left hand navigation.
Now click on Input and select ‘OSCulator Out’
And finally, click the ‘On’ buttons for ‘Track’ and ‘Sync’ for ‘OSCulator Out’
Now Ableton Live is ready to receive MIDI signals from Osculator.
Now you need to load up an Osculator config file. Each one is unique to the layout you are using on your device.
Luckily, all the layouts available on touchosc.co.uk are packaged with their very own Osculator config files.
Once you have the Osculator config file, simply double click and Osculator will load up automatically.
(Only load Osculator by double clicking the config or you might encounter problems)
Now you need to tell Osculator which port to listen on.
Click in the box marked ‘OSC Input Port’ and type ‘8000’
Now when you touch any controls on a TouchOSC template, you’ll see the corresponding boxes light up green on the left.
Phew…. OK things got a bit technical there, but fear not, you’re ready to go!!
Now lets get TouchOSC to talk to your computer over your WiFi network.
